Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Good. You — with links to go deeper on every answer.
Content & Editorial
No. Good. You provides general wellness and health information for educational and informational purposes only. Nothing on this site constitutes or should be treated as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
This applies to all content — including articles, guides, tool outputs, calculator results, and any recommendations made on this platform. The tools we provide (BMI calculators, macro calculators, sleep assessments, etc.) produce general estimates based on population-level research, not personalised clinical assessments.
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making health, nutrition, fitness, or medical decisions.
Our articles are written and reviewed by qualified professionals including neuroscientists, registered dietitians, clinical researchers, and certified health coaches. Author credentials are displayed on every article page.
Our editorial process has three stages: expert research and drafting, peer review by a qualified professional in the relevant field, and a final editorial pass for accuracy and clarity before publication. Content is updated when the evidence meaningfully shifts.
We apply a strict evidence hierarchy. In order of preference:
- 1. Systematic reviews & meta-analyses — The highest quality — synthesising multiple RCTs. We treat these as strong evidence.
- 2. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) — Strong but treated carefully in context of sample size and replication.
- 3. Cohort & observational studies — Moderate evidence — presented with limitations noted.
- 4. Expert consensus & clinical guidelines — We cite established bodies (NHS, AHA, WHO, etc.) where relevant.
- 5. Early-stage or single studies — Flagged explicitly as "emerging" — never presented as established fact.
Good. You may use AI tools to assist with research organisation, drafting, and summarisation. However, all published content is reviewed, edited, and approved by qualified human writers and editors before publication. AI is a drafting aid — not a replacement for expert oversight.
Where AI assistance has materially contributed to a piece, this is disclosed in our editorial notes. We do not publish AI content that has not been substantively reviewed and edited for accuracy.
We take accuracy seriously. If you believe something on Good. You is factually incorrect, misleading, or outdated, please report it. Every correction request is reviewed by a qualified team member.
To report a correction: go to our Contact page, select "Report a Correction" in the category dropdown, and include the URL of the page in question, what the error is, and if possible, a source supporting the correct information. We review all corrections within 5 business days.
Short excerpts (up to 150 words) with clear attribution and a link back to the original article are permitted for non-commercial purposes. This includes newsletters, social posts, and personal blogs.
Full article reproduction, use in commercial products, or embedding our tools in third-party platforms requires written permission. Contact us with your intended use and we typically respond within 5 business days.
Tools & Calculators
Yes — every interactive tool on Good. You is completely free to use. This includes all calculators (BMI, macro, hydration, sleep, heart rate zones), assessments (wellness score, stress check-in, wellness wheel, circadian quiz), planners, and trackers. No payment or subscription is ever required.
Creating a free account (sign in with Google) lets you save results and build a history over time, but is never required to use the tools themselves.
Our calculators use validated, peer-reviewed formulas as their foundation:
- →BMR / Macro Calculator: Mifflin-St Jeor equation — the most validated formula for resting metabolic rate in non-athlete adults
- →Heart Rate Zones: Karvonen formula (heart rate reserve method) — accounts for resting HR, more accurate than simple % of max HR
- →Sleep Calculator: 90-minute sleep cycle model, consistent with Rechtschaffen & Kales sleep staging research
- →Hydration: 35ml/kg/day baseline with activity adjustments — in line with European Food Safety Authority guidance
- →Wellness Score: Composite scoring across four evidence-graded pillars: rest, nutrition, movement, mental health
Results are general estimates for healthy adults. They are not substitutes for lab-based measurement or clinical assessment.
Yes — if you have a free account. After using any tool, you will see a "Save to Dashboard" prompt. Results are stored in your dashboard where you can review your history and track changes over time.
Without an account, results are shown immediately but not stored. We recommend creating a free account if you intend to monitor trends — for example, re-running the Wellness Score monthly to track your baseline improvement.
Tools like the macro calculator, BMI calculator, and hydration calculator require inputs like age, weight, height, and activity level to generate a meaningful personalised estimate. Without this data, the tool can only produce population averages.
This data is used exclusively to compute your result. It is not stored unless you are signed in and choose to save the result. We never share input data with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Account & Privacy
No account is needed to read any article, guide, or blog post, or to use any interactive tool. All content is freely accessible with no registration required.
A free account (created via Google sign-in) adds: saved tool results, bookmarked articles, a personalised dashboard, newsletter preference management, and the ability to receive replies to feedback you submit. It is never a paywall — it is just persistence and personalisation.
We collect minimal data. Here is a plain-language summary:
- → Email address: Only if you create an account or subscribe to the newsletter
- → Tool inputs & results: Only if you are signed in and choose to save a result
- → Anonymised usage analytics: Pages visited and tools used — used to improve the site, no personal identifiers

We never sell personal data. We never share it with third parties for advertising purposes without explicit consent.
You can request account deletion from your account settings page (if available) or by contacting us directly with your registered email address. We will delete your account and all associated personal data within 30 days of your request, in compliance with GDPR and applicable data protection law.
Note: anonymised, aggregated analytics data (with no link to your identity) may be retained for site improvement purposes.
Every newsletter email contains a clearly visible one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it immediately removes you from the mailing list — no confirmation step, no re-engagement emails.
You can also manage your newsletter preferences from your account dashboard if you have a registered account, or contact us directly and we will unsubscribe you within 24 hours.
Some pages on Good. You include affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This revenue helps us keep the platform free.
Our policy: affiliate relationships are always disclosed at the top of the relevant page. We never recommend a product because of an affiliate relationship — recommendations are made editorially first, and affiliate links are added only where they exist for products we would recommend anyway. Commercial relationships never influence content decisions.
